Just as an FYI. The Admin password, that you can set via the web interface doubles as the root password. Also it is a simple matter to set the back LCD panel to "Maintance" mode and be able to telnet in and setup SSH.

PHP and MySQL are avilable for this box.
Cobalt has the RPMs for both at the following location.
    ftp.cobaltnetworks.com/pub/experimental/

There are lots of other OSS software packages for this machine I rememeber seeing, LDAP and POSTGRess as well.
Also it has an X11 client installed on the machine.

If you can't figure out how to install the RPMs on this machine...

Amen! It is the form factor for these that is the huge selling point.

I bought mine due to me needing a dedicated web server and the fact that my dorm room did not have any more free space in it. With two other computers and 17 inch Monitors and a TV etc there was no shelf space for any thing else.

These things are excelent for what they are: A dirt cheap little web server, that can spit out a lot of static html pages or do a little CGI work.

If you need real horse power your going to need to buy a huge computer.

They are about seven inches square. However there is no display adaptor in the box or PS2 ports or for that matter usb. The only ports on the box are
Duel Ethernet, Serial. (And with the gateway A PCI modem card.)

Telnet is only turned on when you toggle a couple of buttons on the back of the machine. It only allows signons for one hour then turns the service off. However currently connected sessions stay on.

I hate to break it to you but the United States does not have such a great history of respect for human rights. (Look back about 150 years ago.)
Plus there is the fact that less than 100 years ago the average American worker was making roughly what the average Chinese worker is making today.

Lastly the drug war is not a problem. It his one heck a of a good excuse for us (Americans) to put our less desirables in prison and away from the people would get scared by them if they were on the streets.

Actually I know several people who shovel shit for love. They raise horses and make no money on them. They enjoy the horses, (and hardly ever ride them)and that is enough of a reason to do it.

Actually you can use WinWord as your editor inside of Outlook. The functionality has been then since Windows Messaging came out in Win95. There is nothing stopping Corel from doing the same, but one Windows text editor is almost the same as the next.

Of course using Winword like that increases your GPF rate, and your chances of corrupting your .pst file...

There is a chain called Cinema Grill that does serve beer at the movies. (And whole meals as well.) We have one here in town, that is bit pricey but good. http://www.cinemagrill.com
