I work for a public computer lab for my local library. We have unfiltered access to the Internet. We are on a separate floor. Filtered access is available in the children's department.
As for a policy ours reads "The Internet does contain some controversial material. makes no attempt to censor World Wide Web resources nor protect users from offensive material"
We haven't had any problems. Luckily. Just complains about those over the age of 18 looking at "adult" sites. We don't monitor what people do and things run smoothly. As my boss likes to say, "If it can't be fixed on the computer then we leave it as it is"
