As far as the donation is concerned, it depends on the coders. some dont like to accept money cause they feel they woul owe that person a favor or something. some just do the coding for un and feel they dont need to be paid. On the opther hand it is nice to get rewarded and recognized for your work.
Best bet is to ask them if you can.
But that is one of the thing that make a computer 'superior' the fac that they have knowledge (the DB) and they can remember it. Kasparov had a DB (his brain), but unfortunately the brain doesnt remember as well as a DB can. If Deep Blue has to play without his DB, then Kasparov has to play without his brain.
