I empathize and concur. I too am a lifelong gamer, a grammar hound, and somewhat anti-social. I don't attribute it to my passion for gaming, I simply accept (and sometimes relish) that it's an element of my personality. I too have difficultly communicating directly with groups, particularly large ones.
Some things came to mind while reading your post.
Reading is still a significant part of gaming, particularly in the RPG genres. I would suggest that children (and adults) who enjoy those games must read and comprehend text continuously, and there is a Pavolian reward for understanding that text as quickly as completely as possible. This stimulates and improves comprehensive speed and ability
Of course not all games have text, but most non FPSs (first-person shooters) do.
As for FPS games, While Quake and its ilk are examples of games that may not develop comprehension, they do (as you suggest) hone strategy and decision-making abilities.
There's something else I'd like to point out regarding this script-kiddy dialect. While it is a distortion of the english language, it still requires (for the time being) that the kids understand the original meaning (and lets hope spelling) of the words they use, and if not, then I propose that even draconian enforcers of grammar such as myself will simply have to remember that the English language is a whore - it has a barely reputable mother (saxon/german) and a host of fathers (latin, old anglo, french, aboriginal)and as such must and WILL change according to time, geography, culture and - gulp -technology. .t.

I disagree with you. In Mein Kampf Hitler specifically details his hatred and Germany's absolute need to re-take Russian territory. Hitler always planned to attack Russia, he assumed that western Europe would either co-operate or be crushed. When Great Britain refused to capitulate he returned to his ultimate purpose - destroying Russia.
Also, all indications are that Stalin was blindsided by the German attack - he expected it to come in the following spring or summer (despite his spies opinions to the contrary)
Ah the wonderful aroma of clarity! If I might add that record companies continue to reap profits from said first album long after the artist has packed everything up and moved back into his/her parents' house.
However, most albums go into the tank right off the bat - only the Brittany Spears and Backstreet Boys mega-platinum discs really go off the scale in terms of profit.
The irony is that the record companies have the perfect vehicle for making even more money right under their powdered noses. By using the Internet as a distribution/information source they could elimate physical production and shipping costs for those many forgotten/forgettable releases.
Just to play Devil's advocate, that prank may have inadvertantly saved someone's life - there may well have been a multi-car pileup on the bridge that morning..t.
