*Empty*... Yes, I think empty in an engineering/programming environment can be a very bad sign.
*Tidy*? No. My desk goes from periods of utter hell (papers stacked everywhere, hardware strewn about, wires all over the place) to "Friday" - I took an hour to shuffle all my hardware around, throw out catalogs from '98, and be generally tidy. In my office, I get asked a *lot* of questions from other techies, and it's invaluable to be kinda organized and know where all my hardware/cables/etc. are.
