If the card(token) is just a random token pulled from a secured box when you register to vote, whoe cares if your vote is listed on it. The token would in no way be linked to you. It would probably work to have a magnetic card that would write the voting results to the card and 2 other sources(hard drive, print output) then would drop the card into the machine like an ATM does if you leave your card in it.

What are you smoking? First off, I RTFA. they tout it puts out 6-12 million polygons, whereas the current Radeon puts out 30 million polygons. Nice comparison, and in a year what do you think Video cards will be doing? the Voodoo5 comes in 64 and 128 meg versions I think. what will they be at in 14 mo. As for playing DVD why don't you rtfa, they have a deal to Matasushita make the 8cm optical disks. there is a port that can use an adapter to communicate with panasonic products, that isn't the same as being able to play DVD's. Mabye your quoting a different article, if so let me know.

why do you not want one...I don't get it. They ara going to charge you $300 one way or the other, you might as well get the DVD player. it's not like the Ncube is going to run it's discs more efficently...and it's not going to be cheaper because it doesn't have the DVD capability. Why not have the DVD player, it's a freebie.

I know that consoles, have always been underpowered, and the the tailoring of hardware to each componetent, makes them far superior, to a PC of comparable speed(at least for playing games). My gripe is that they are projecting a release date over a year away...assuming they release anytime near when they are saying. By the time these things hit the market, they'll be outdated. If this is supposed to be a response to the PS2, waiting a year past it's realease date seems silly to me.

That isn't being debated. What is being debated is when has that savings been passed on to us, the consumer...never.

Can you tell me a time, when manufacturing of CD or DVD media actually reduced the price of the product that was placed on it?

They want me to buy a 405 MHZ machine over a year from now...and only 24 megs of video ram. Not on your life, I already double that with a desktop machine, and calling the processor a gekko and tailoring it to the hardware, only goes so far, by the time that thing hits our market, it'll be old tech. I'm sorry propietary disks...what the heck, did they think that 5 or 7 gigs from a DVD was too much room? It's all well and fine to want it to be A gamebox and not an "entertainment device" but who the heck thought it would be a good idea to use a 1.2gig disk. Whatever. Not for my money.

What! Prove it. DVD's are a CD based tech, there not cheaper, then VHS. PC games are all produced on CD or DVD now, when have you seen one that was cheaper than a floppy disk based game? They wont be cheaper, at best they will be the same price, and I doubt that. There is no reason for them to reduce the price below what people are already paying, it cuts into their greed margins.
