  1. Re:look down a few posts on Best PDA To Read e-Texts On? · · Score: 1

Hmmm.. I picked up a 5500d a few years ago for $300, I think they are less than $150 now... I got a really nice anti-reflective/protective screen from some shop in hong kong (via the web) for $12. I get about 6 hours of battery life if I don't use the backlight, and I typically read in brighter light situations anyway, so the backlight is not necessary. I usually listen to MP3s at the same time as reading, so that's 6 hours of musical reading entertainment! I love the reader software that comes with OpenZaurus. I read about 50 long books (all the william gibson books, all the sherlock holmes books, 20,000 leagues under the sea, confessions of an english opium eater, etc), over the last year and a half. I took it traveling around the world. This little guys saved me soooooo much backpackspace, it has been invaluable!

I generally read pure txt books, set the font really big and turn on the auto-scroll feature I can read this thing for a full 6 hours without my eyes getting tired... I can't really say enough good things about it.

  2. Ishmael on Cradle to Cradle · · Score: 1

I just finished reading Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. It was a great read. My guess is that this work was derived from Quinn's in some way. Speaking of which, the movie Instinct starring Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. is a reasonable film with some great philosophy that was inspired by Ishmael.
