linking any Internet web site, either directly or through a series of links, to any other Internet web site containing DeCSS.
That pretty much outlaws the search engines - and probably pretty much the entire World Wide Web. Well, in America at least.
Let's hope some ISPs outside the USA turn round to MPAA and tell them where to go and stick it.
IRC: I would say 'fair enough' - but why do you need your own hostname to use IRC? I'm not an IRC user myself (I'm a MUSHer) I may be missing something somewhere...
I use Demon for my box at home on a caller-id ringback system (so I've got static IP to ssh into). I also use Demon on my cellphone (ED50 on Orange) in the evenings on their 0121 number, but for daytime cellphone use I use OneTel who charge 1p/min (and on a cellphone 1p/min ain't bad especially at peak rates!) through a freephone number.
I'm a Demon customer, and a happy one at that. They allow both POP3 and SMTP mail delivery, both of which I use depending on whether I'm just checking it or actually downloading to my primary box.
Anyway, Demon (currently) use a single IP per customer's homepages website, but they plan to
change to some name-based virtual hosting. And once they've done that they can recycle those IPs for dial-up customers.
Also, why do you need a shell account with its own IP address? UNIX boxes have been allowing multiple shell accounts off the one IP since year dot.

Here in the UK we've got Cellnet. 'nuff said....
Message to Sony: Touch any of my hardware and I will sue you under the UK's Computer Misuse Act. Oh. I'm glad now that my new discman isn't a Sony.
