  1. Re:Just do it the other way around on Ask Slashdot: Spreadsheet With Decent Programming Language? · · Score: 1

    This is indeed the process that I have used. However, if I want to run a regex over a range of cells, I have to write a small script, run the script, review the output and repeat the process until I get the regex right. Just running the regex in the spreadsheet directly over the cells would be much faster.

  2. Cooperate on What To Do With 78 USB Drives Next Christmas? · · Score: 1

    Make them autoboot (e.g. Linux). But when it boots up, tell them that they need to get the USB drive from another family member (or several) to get the 'secret' message.

    Or it could be some kind of competition, how many other family members can you 'link' with.

  3. Airport Screeners != Border Inspectors on U.S. Airport Screeners Are Watching What You Read · · Score: 2, Informative

    Although the both work for Homeland Security, their roles are different. When you enter the country at the airport you don't pass any airport screeners (unless you transfer to another flight). If you take a domestic flight you will never see any border inspectors.

    I advice you to subscribe to the asterisk users mailing list and read it for some time. It has a surprising mix of pros and newbies.

  5. Re:Nope, not really.... on Professional Photographers Using Linux? · · Score: 1

    I have been using my Canon 20D with RAW pictures and BibblePro. Bibble is a native Linux app (QT/KDE?).

    You can preview your RAW images, adjust colours, etc. Then you can convert to TIFF/JPEG/...

    It works quite well.

  6. Overblown on BIND Patches Make Bad Situation Worse · · Score: 5, Informative
    This report sounds a bit overblown. A conservative named.conf would only contain:

    zone "com" { type delegation-only; };
    zone "net" { type delegation-only; };
    And that would not have the problems described.
  7. How about Ethernet over Firewire? on Firewire and Linux? · · Score: 1

    I think it is an interesting questions. Also for laptops, which are very restricted in their expandability.
    Does anybody know if there are any Ethernet or Wireless Ethernet interfaces for Firewire (like the network interfaces that are available for USB).
