When Zimmerman sold PGP, what did he expect? That people would start paying Network Associates money to use something that most people still don't see the need for?
Forget it Phil. You killed PGP when you sold it. GPG is there take over from PGP and make sure that those who understand the need for good encryption still have some reviewable source to trust.
Certainly the most important comments are those that say WHY something is being done rather than WHAT is being done.
If the code is written clearly, in sensible size functions and with meaninful variable and function names it is easy to see what is happening. It's the WHY that often escapes even the original author some years down the line.
OK, so I'm getting lightly cooked by all the microwaves flying around the train. What about the huge magnetic fields caused by the motors and overhead lines?
And now the Swedes have found that fried potato (chips, crisps etc) has worryingly high quantities of acryamide!
Looking at the risk of dying in a car crash still makes all these risks pale into insignificance.
Mandrake have invested a lot of time into writing the install, control centre and other tools. One could hardly say that all they do is compile software.
IMHO, having just installed 8.1 on my Thinkpad, this is absolutely the best distro yet. It recognised *all* of my hardware and even set up frame buffer and 3D acceleration properly.
Yeah, but the problem is how few "good" programmers there are.
Let's fact it, most programmers write awful code but nobody
ever gets to see it. I would estimate that of all the programmers
I have worked with over the last 18 years that less than 10% of
them could actually write well designed, well structured and
maintainable code.
I've been using Linux for about three years now, although I'm forced to keep a copy of Win98 under VMWare so that I can run MS-Office.
Although I keep as up to date as possible, things like Micrsoft's.net and XP have rarely inspired me to follow a link anywhere to see what all the fuss is about. I'm just not interested anymore!
I guess it just leaves me waiting for the day when Linux gets real office apps that actually work properly and read Microsoft Office format files faithfully. Microsoft compatibility is always going to be a requirement on Linux (or any other OS's) applications purely because of the huge user base.
What's even more funny is that your version of DeCSS crashes MS Internet Explorer!
IEXPLORE caused a stack fault in module MSHTML.DLL at 0177:70057cc1.
Is this intentional??

> They're all the same, and they're all missing the point.
And so, what exactly is the point?

I bet you own a gun as well don't you?
p.s. This message is flame-bait, but I only added the p.s. to get through the filter.
Who modded this up?

Flame me if you will....
Impressive: www.passport.com currently displays:
Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a138f'
'aszSplitHTTPLANG[...]' is not an object
/UTILS/SetLCID.asp, line 99
Ho, ho, ho. Slashdotted or just plain broken?
I could not agree more.
