Add to this that you must authenticate every new destination and the phishers will have a really difficult time to get any money. They need to have my authentication device to add their own account and then add a transfer to the ones I do myself without me knowing. I cant see this happening. NAT traversal is indeed one of the major challenges for IP telephony. Skype solves this by using supernodes without NAT to bridge traffic between two NATed clients. If you look on a regular SIP scheme it does not use such nodes but rather communicates directly between two clients. The only thing a SIP server does is to handle connectivity information. The problem here is that NATs and firewalls mess things up pretty bad. It is possible to solve with SIP aware NATs but there are still few of those out there.
So the only way to decrease oil consumption is to shut down oil burning powerplants then? Is not gas made from oil?? why not decrease the amount of gas used by driving lighter cars and using alternative fuel in busses and taxis for a start. That works in europe and it has noting to do with population density. But again, that would be to intrude on the american way of life.
By withdrawing from the Kyoto protocol the US showed a lack of interest to decrease the polution of the entire world. What was the reason for this? according to a statement from a US official it was because it was a threat against the american way of life. Well, the rest of the world could accept the protocol so why does the US insist on keeping their polution levels?
The discussion about this has been about how one should meassure the polution but is it not enough to agree to decrease polution? Of course the US must protect their way of life. What does the life of the rest of the world matter compared to that??
First of all I have to say that I havent seen so many wild speculations before. You should find out some small scrap of fact before you complain about beeing branded and whatever garbage writen in this thread. It sounds like the meaning of life in the US is to come up with conspiracy theories about the goverment.
If you knew what ENUM really means you should know that you already are branded by the goverment. You have an e-mail adress dont you? then you have a personal identifier. scary? I wouldnt think so.
What ENUM offers is only a way to enter a phone number into DNS. If you dont want a numeric adress you dont get one, you get a regular e-mail adress. how difficult could it be? This is only a way to let you control your number in a better way. If you only want your family to reach you on your cellular phone, only they will be able to do so. If you dont want e-mail to the number you dont have to.
I have to add a last comment, everything doesnt concern the US goverment. The ENUM initiative is run by IETF and The US goverment has only shown interest in it. The US goverment dont run the Internet (anymore) so hold your conspiracy theories to yourselves please.
