  1. Harvard Equivalent on What is the Value of an MBA to a Techie? · · Score: 1

Didnt know there was such a thing. I'm in a good MBA prgram now, but unless you go to Wharton or maybe Stanford I wouldnt call any other program a Harvard equivalent. Amazing that he uses the Harvrad brnad name on this post instead of the second rate diploma shop he got his MBA from.

Reread the article. Ford doesnt have a new CEO. The quote is from the Chairman of the Board, William Clay FORD Jr. He has been around the company for a long time, as has his dad, his grandfather, and greatgrandfather (i.e. Henry Ford). He does have a better appreciation for environmental stewardship than his predecessors though.

One billion tons? 1 km in length? What the hell are you smoking? A ship that size would be have ten thousand times the displacement of today's 100,000 ton aircraft carriers, and over three times their length as well.

During the Cold War, the DoD was looking real hard into building a fleet of transport vessels that could go 50+ knots to outrun soviet subs through a tight corridor intensively patrolled by NATO ASW forces. No need for one now. Besides, nobody has ever made a profitable cargo carrier with gas turbine technology so dont expect this ship to be profitable either.

Unlike most people here, I work in the automotive business. Engine Designer in fact. Here are some misconceptions that seem to be prevalent here on this thread. 1.) First off, you dont want to be in a crash on a 700kg car. Lightweight cars like subcompacts have the highest casualty rates in accidents 2.) Dont think for a minute that companies like Ford and GM wantto kill stuff like this. I know we would pay billions of dollars for a no emission engine. When you look at the all the engineering costs to remain within CAFE restrictions and emission standards an actual low weight zero emission engine would double our profits almost. But so far none of these engines have proven themselves reliable or efficient 3.) Look at all the companies that are trying to bring fuel cells to the market. Look at who the major stakeholders are. The Oil companies have plenty to lose from alternative fuel engines, but Detroit doesnt.

You don't need to take a polygraph test. The only affiliation you have to list is the communist party. Yes, you do have to list where you lived. Ever applied for a mortage? Same type questions. At no point was I ever asked my views on anything. I had to list 3 character references, though. So I guess by your reckoning we shouldnt trust anyone with a home mortagage or small busines loan than either?

Mo, You are dead wrong on security clearances. You need two things to access information. One is a clearance. You can be cleared for confidential, secret, or top secret. There is also special compartmented clearance but that's a subset of top secret. Then you need to have a need to know. I had a top secret clearance when I was in the Navy. That didnt mean I could walk into the NSA and start snooping. It also meant NSA guys couldnt come looking at all of my tomahawk mission data stuff either. Nobody just hands out clearances just in case they need them. Clearances require extensive background checks that cost a LOT of money. Government agencies have enough trouble clearing their own people, much less extraneous ones. You can bet if they had access to NSA material they were working for the NSA in one way shape or form.

The corporations will give a small payout to the country's leaders and the nation will remain in poverty. This is EXACTLY what has happened with the world's merchant marine fleets. Over 90% of all commercial ships, from cruise liners to supertankers, are registered out of Panama and Liberia to take advantage of their loose regulations and taxes. Dont see either of those two countries really profitting from it.
