  1. migration to linux on Migrating Your Office from Windows to Linux? · · Score: 1

It may seem like a duanting task, but with proper planning, research, and development it can be done.We just finished a Windows to Linux migration, and one thing is watching and listening to users,(they yell the loudest), will make the migration painless as possible. Open Office, Win4lin, and Samba are more than enough to ease any transition. Plan in steps and create a strategy to acheive the goal. Good Luck, hang in there, keep at it the migration will happen.

Katz ! Obviously by getting your news from the NY TIMES WASH POST, etc you are listening to the wolf explain why he should guard the chicken house. The republicans know that SDI(i am sure you know what SDI is if I have to explain,.. you are a bigger idiot than I thougt) is a pipe dream , and the main reason they are talking about it is to threaten China, who is a comer geopolitically, and to keep Russia in her pathetic rockin chair. trying to just stay warm. As far as the well financed terrorist, all the SDi, and duck and cover in the world will not save you from some crazy zealot with a degree in chemistry. Katz leave the politics alone please. It is bad enough that most geeks dont have a sense of history. So please dont perpetuate this by talking about a historical movie without shedding some light on its historical context.

  5. Geek self-importance/grow-up on Up, Up, Down, Down: Part Three · · Score: 1

After musing through this article I couldnt help but respond negatively to what the author has stated. I completely disagree with the thesis. It states that "gamers are ...visionaries, quick thinking....our future" nothing could be more from the truth. I have never seen Parker Bros. or Hasbro win any Nobel Awards. Gamers I have seen are nothing but immature teenyboppers who have a disdain for those who do not see the world from a series of 1's and 0's, and care nothing about the world around them, except for the new 'sploit, code, cheat or whatever new "thing" is on the horizon. I am sure this is not true of all serious gamers, who might see the game as art,but that doesnt help society solve its day to day problems. Maybe these far-seeing all knowing gamers could apply their knowledge to traffic control, cleaner sources of energy,or not to mention freedoms that are being eroded by our government everyday. This article is a slap in the face to every struggling artist, be it writer, painter, singer, etc that has ever chronicled honest feelings about the world they see. Grow up, I dont feel that the world owes me something just because I can play tetherball well.............

Hey long time reader first time poster! I like your article and I think it was really informative and I learned a lot from it. I really wish Slashdot would have less articles about computers and more articles and discussion about politics and football though. Keep up the good work hombres!
