Part of the reason that Open Source came into existance was a culture amoung programmers that valued sharing work, re-use, and value placed upon intellectual labor rather than on intellectual property. This culture does not exist yet for writers.
Do you think that the net, weblogs and the Open Source movement will change the culture of writing significantly enough so that writing joins the gift culture of programming? Or will Open Sourced writing always be attached to programs and platforms and done mainly for religious reasons?

And it's good for linux because then people who were hanging around for office might then just junk thier windows partition.
