Look who's the idiot... maybe the anonymous coward how doesn't have the fucking brains to say who they are. You're the idiot... fuck you for being a gutless coward!
If Sega is indeed concentrating on software as opposed to hardware then I guess they had better contract somebody to work on their box as the Dreamcast is going to get old fast with new technologies! I still say it's within the Interest of maybe someone like Sony to make a franchise out of this and create a partnership with Sega... get rid of the crappines behind the PlayStation 2 and concentrate on the quality that us gamers need!... Do it before M$ gets the idea and puts their X-Box as Sega's new platform... !!!!!!!!!!
Interesting Article. Being a big fan of Sony products in the gaming arena - I own a Playstation and have my sites on ver. 2 - I would beg to differ with the article as Microsoft being the main one to "gain" from devouring Sega.
I would see Sony having somewhat more to gain than Microsoft. If sony concentrated on the Hardware taking the excellence which was offered by the Dreamcast and combining it with their somewhat disappointing PlayStation 2 they could grab a better share in the market.
Even though Sony does have it's own game franchises and maybe won't give Sega a hard look I'd suggest to them to LOOK AGAIN! Sega could be what Sony needs to take the market by storm!
I think some of these dot-com startups go into the industry with their hopes up just a little too high. Maybe they didn't think of the possiblity of FAILING!
If you're gonna make it in the real world you got to have your basic strategies plotted out and for God's sake if you are going to go with a Plan have a backup Plan... THE BASICS PEOPLE! THINK!
Yeh maybe we'll start seeing companies being a little wiser in their strategies. I think the hype will only last for so long over dot-coms and then maybe well actually reach an age where we'll see real services that you can rely on.
True. I think though that you'll find that comparison hard to do as the dot com world is a highly scrutnized "young" venture so to speak. Like you said "the websites that actually have hard/soft(ware) sevices behind them are the ones that typically survive."
The same goes for the fact that the ones who actually may have backing by some "bigger" more conventional company are the ones that survive.
Maybe it's worthwhile for longer standing.coms to foster some of the startups and maybe we'll see less failures in the industry.
Maybe it's worth it for some of these dot com startups to create ventures together in order to utilize resources as well a brain power.
A lot of dot com startups have excellent ideas but often don't have the business world know how, are on a shoe string budgets.
I think it would be worth it for some of these guys to knock their heads together to create some real KILLER dot coms that may actually do something beneficial to humanity with their ideas!

Not the type that come and go!
