There are two or three problems that came into my mind...
first: if i play my CD in a normal CD-Player,
record them to.wav files, burn a CD of it then all the protection is gone no matter what protection they included in first place.
(if you come up with sound-quality issues now -
i think you can do quite good copies these days, even analog if it shows that digital does not work)
second:
If this protection system makes it to market, this could be the end of any "multimedia"-cd say music cd with special features like music-clips and things.
third:
My old portable CD-Player (Sony D-99) can play data cd's... u know, all the noise... what happens if this ol' bastard gets on of these protected CD's????
But i can have the Internet at home with it,
plus, my Word runs better on that prozessor, its really slow now, you know. BTW, can I check my e-mail with it? That would be great. I think then i could finally open those attachments...
Oh, my son says he'll have more fps then, well, is that something with girls?
isn't it obvious?
Their project sounds interesting first,
but the team is only a bunch of technology freaks, say no historians in the team. They are fancy of kites... they proved that they could lever that obelisk (with todays techniques)... let them play.
This is a hobby. The only sad thing IMHO is that they try to raise money pretending to do serious research.
How will they provide a constant connection?
Will they use longrange Radio over the atlantic ocean (for example) or has the connection to go by satellite or what?
I bet they only want to beat the sith out of the top10 seti@home users by sending in packages every 10 minutes.... ;-)
