  1. Human eye vs. computers on Another New (Minor) Planet In Solar System · · Score: 2
McMillan said he first saw the slow-moving object on Nov. 28 while glancing at the computer screen from real-time images captured from a telescope on Kitt Peak, near Tucson, Ariz. It was not detected by computer software.

I wonder why this was not noted by the computers. They are supposed to be checking for just such an event. It seems the human eye outclasses the machine this time.

  2. For those not paying attention on Election Wrapping Up (Part 2) · · Score: 1

I would like to point out that, as a non-american, I and other people who are not aware of the specifics of each state are not necessarily not paying attention. I live thousands of km's away from the US and am interested in the elections for their worldwide impact. However, I am not as familiar with these elections as americans probably are. But than, isn't /. an INTERNATIONAL community for us geeks?

In that case, the latin should be viri, although I thought that means "men". Virii would be plural for virius, not?

  5. Virusses on The Regulon · · Score: 1

So finally, sombody realises that a computer virus has got a noble goal: to safe us from the ever growing information monster.

People who write virus killers should be prosecuted for endangering the human species. The noble virus must not be hindered to complete it's task of being the predator on the information monster, killing it by saying "I love you, Melissa!" This show of affection will surely demolish the pure evil that is information.

I'm glad somebody set this straight.
