Yeah, but see the Captain's response above. I have to agree with that. If you can't afford the price of a patent, how do you plan to defend yourself against someone who sues you over their patent? If you can't afford it, you'll lose in court.
If you want to make the process cheaper, write to your legislator, and convince them to make it a priority.
The legislature should just do away with patents alltogether. They aren't worth a damn anymore anyway. I hereby proclaim that all existing patents are null and void. Let the market decide who will be successful based entirely on the quality of the product, not on some bogus concept of intellectual property.
