If Sun were to adopt KDE with QT under GPL they would prevent commercial application development on Sun Solaris which is not their intention (I expect).
They would have to negotiate a license for QT commerical edition and ship a copy of that with each Solaris license, if they wish to allow commercial application development on solaris.
Alright they would get huge discounts because of the volume they ship, but it would still impact on the cost of a Solaris license.
