  1. Re:What kind of crack are they on on Hong Kong Gets Smart ID Cards · · Score: 4, Interesting

Okay, I live in Hong Kong. Actually that's not the worse part, as serveral ppl has mentioned, we would not mind carry such card around, since this is required by law to carry one around(smart or non-smart one, just like the SS). The problem is the way that they choose the vendor, who ever get the lowest price got it. The problem is the vendor who bid the project, Pacific Cyberworks is not well known on such technology locally. They claim they can finish the whole thing within 18 months cycle, which if you think more about it, it's a ridiculous short time frame. Not to mention their bid is half of the second lowest bid. That makes me have a really bad feeling that the security on such system would not be throughly tested at all. sigh...

  2. Q -- What it is and what it is not on 'Q' Plays US GameCube Games · · Score: 2, Insightful

Q is consist of 2 component, dvd player; and Nitendo GameCube. They are totally seperated. You need to select from the panel that you want the DVD function; or the GameCube function. ie. it won't detect what you have inserted. It kind of disappoint me..

  3. Re:Could Someone "Become You"? on Hong Kong Smart Identity Cards In 2003 · · Score: 1

I am from HK as well and this is the info that they passed out to the press:

The Biometrics they mention is finger prints ONLY, which will be used for immigration, driver license, and as a library card.

The amount of information that can store on the smart card that they mention is 32K

  4. Reason behind it on ICANN Plans Non-English Character Domain Testbed · · Score: 1

I am working as a IT tech in a multinational company, which happens to handle all sortz of domain registration. The reason for us to register under different character set is because it is easy for the people in that particular country to remember an address; but we also register an equivalent english name for that as well. Since the main point of the registration in different character set is simplcity for typical user who don't use English as their first/second language, it will be hard for them to remember any address in the first place.
