Currently moving from Cisco Catalyst 6k's to Nortel Shasta boxes on the ATM backend, no idea what DSLAM equipment point equipment, currently using Cisco gear. Also involves moving the POP from the CO to the pedestal, again using Nortel equipment. Should be available in the most urban areas in Alberta soon. Really? Well I happen to work for a major ISP (actually, the first ISP to offer DSL services to the public) and I can tell you that most of DSL modems based on the ADI chipset (ie: most of them) can succcessfully train and transfer data at 14Mb. Furthermore, we are preparing to roll out VDSL here in Canada in the next few months, which can run at up to 52Mb initially. Lucky Canadian users in metropolan(?) areas (at fisrt) will be able to receive digital TV (VOD), digital telephony and Internet all over the same "spit-and-barbed-wire" physical link!
We have piloted such a system using an 11Mb DSL link back in '96
