Regardless of whatever steps they take to block piracy, someone will figure a way around their road block.
Concerning copyrights... just another one of those laws that helps keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor. Sure, you can argue that a copyright can protect anyone but what you mostly see is record companies screaming bloody mary because they may make $2.0 billion instead of $2.1 billion because of pirated music. But, that's another debate...:)
