Since you've bought it already, it's probably a bit late to say, but I bought a Quadra-150 recently and have been far from impressed with it.
First up, the fact that it was so big is a *major* disadvantage - if you're not going to carry a laptop around with you, there's really no reason to buy one - the desktop you could buy for the same money would be far better. And if you're going to carry it, 4.2kg is way to much to be dragging around. Otherwise it's just a pretty lame status symbol to show all your 1337 friends how c00l j00 are.
I also had the same problem you seem to be having, that Linux would hang when I rebooted it. Fine on a desktop - but with moving around and only three or so hours in the battery I'm going to need to shut down a lot.
Bottom line - there's really no reason to buy a laptop like this. I don't know if you're a graphics professional that desperately needs to ray-trace on the road, or maybe can't get away from your 3D games on the train, but I'm a coder and I've found the Quadra-150 is vastly overpowered, overweight and power-hungry for my needs. The real tragedy is that I'm also secure with the size of my genitalia, so the last remaining benefit of the machine's lost to me.
