and just how much square metrage/footage of space do you think would be needed in an urban setting? Did you read the patent? No, of course you didn't, or you would have realized anything above a single family dwelling with multiple levels would run out of available space quite quickly.
Sure, biochar may have slight benefits over compost, but do you have any clue how much it would cost to collect and distribute? No, of course you don't or you would know that the economic gain (if any depending on your part of the world) wouldn't outweigh the cost of collection.
This is not sustainable tech and is just a money grab looking for suckers who don't understand numbers (or can't be bothered to research them because hi-tech is always the best answer.)
yeah that's definitely what I see right now, a world full of happy people. I've seen happier people in 3rd world countries living in huts than people in north america.
An advanced resource and knowledge intensive hi-tech 'solution' for a problem in areas that have neither and no money to pay for billy to make them one is not a solution. It's a money making grab.
Every single idea that was sustainable and easily built and maintained by locals was rejected!!
when quality of life is what really matters? Maybe once we can create a sustainable society where people are actually happy we can focus on resource drains like people who never die.
Fiber optics? Seriously? Way to make the poor and unfortunate forever dependent on you.
If for some reason you want pyrolysis instead of composting why not design a solution that people can build themselves. Say, a parabolic trough collector focusing on oil filled piping to heat the fecal matter. Such collectors built out of aluminum foil have been shown to be able to get temperature above 400f.
oh wait, but then Bill and his cronies wouldn't be able to get rich.
On a side note, I'll definitely try some experimental designs in nica now especially since I have to make collectors anyways for the solar kitchen. I was worried about containment size required for a composting toilet to accomodate large groups of people. Only having to deal with days worth instead of months worth would be a boon. Have to test out whether the biochar is as effective a soil supplement as the compost as well.
Are you serious? He isn't solving anything. He's throwing impractical tech he's invested in at everything. It's microsoft all over again just more subtle.
yeah, because moving away from user built composting toilets with natural materials that can be maintained by a person with 1 hour of training and moving towards complex systems that depend on the latest technology, labs to manufacture and engineers to maintain is good?
No, FB is over for you. Most people like mirrors and chronicling their lives. Perhaps you need to work on your perception because FB is still chronological, it's just by time of last response not time of original posting (which just logically makes sense)!
I don't think the average geek who isn't used to normal socialization can pull it off.
See how stupid you sound with your stupid generalizations? (though both are pretty true:) )
Also, we were talking about who would WANT to create such an api, not necessarily if they were capable. A good distinction since the capable are usually too blind to see the need.
History has shown us it's much easier to just go to war to secure dwindling resources, even recent history! Simplified models are just that, and they break down at the edge cases. Given the fact that we really have no clue how much oil is left (since price is based on reserves and producers can tell you whatever number they want about their reserves) it is actually possible that we no longer have the energetic resources at this time to create a drop-in replacement infrastructure. Alternative energy sources don't just drop free out of the sky, energy is required for the mining, transformation of finite resources, shipping, construction, operation, maintenance, and most of all time.
Happy? All of that is implicit in what I said in the first post for people not blinded by theory. Though blinded by theory is pretty much the status quo amongst us science types.
oh, and it's nice to see I provoke some more honest opinions out of people. Of course they all did as anonymous cowards, very appropriately named here. I wonder if they realize how easy it is to tell some of them by their writing styles. Bunch of cowards.
No, I'm not a troll. I just have a non-USian viewpoint and NOTHING I have said is false!
Believe me, there are a lot of things I appreciate that the US has done. 'Protecting' freedom is not one of them because they basically protected their own freedom to fuck everybody else over.
You might have a different viewpoint if you belonged to one of the countries north or south of the US which regularly get it up the ass.
It's people like you, with your lack of basic understanding of finite resources and the amount of resources needed to sustain a western lifestyle, that make the probability of such a scenario almost 100%.
Once the resources are gone, which resources are you going to use to rebuild the society?
Are you sure about that? For example, on the books the US had better whistleblower protection. Now, what exactly happens in practice is that the US gets all medieval on you while in Canada you get to no longer work for a company whose practices you don't believe in.
The US is king at manipulating legislation to get whatever they want.
So basically the right to free speech in the US is good as long as it's not against anything the US believes is important. How is that different than any other country? The kool-aid is just a different flavour, doesn't mean it's worse than what the US drinks.
It doesn't matter what you propose to a kool-aid drinker. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to break through the 'patriotism' that gets hammered into USians.

No, some creators are quite happy giving away their stuff for free, especially when it's just a copy of 1's and 0's or IP.

wtf it's no longer chronological! haha, dumbass.

Then who in their sane mind would WANT to create an API to decentralize that?
Why the users of course!
There are still towns in mexico where EVERYBODY goes to the town square because that is where everything happens.
...and you'd still have to carry your old briefcase!!

... but matches their political viewpoints.
No they didn't. You just assumed that because it is what you do.
ah the joys of 20th century economics.
Once the resources are gone, which resources are you going to use to rebuild the society?
Oh wait, you're an economist right?
Becoming more like animals would be a welcome change! Humans after all invented garbage and plastic.
are unsustainable. Who would have thunk it?
