Just a quick note that your comment they can only block 30% of pr0n by blocking 30% of the internet is based on the assumption that 100% of the internet is porn.
See, that depends. Do you mean a better way to handle censorship, or a better way to handle the lack there of? As similar as they may be, there is a big difference.
Well, assuming the first, there are three choices:
A) Fuck it, don't censor anything.
B) Fuck it, censor everything.
or...
C) Ooh, let's censor adults and mature teens because they can't handle the internet, and say it's in the good of the little kiddies who don't even on what a porn site is, let alone a web site hardly.
Oh, my bad; those are the one's we're already employing, although I agree with A) most. The internet isn't evil, you don't need to filter everything out for the good of the masses, we can do it our own damn selves. As for libraries, unless it's a private library, they have no right in the area of censorship; if you have a problem with the internet, don't provide access to it, its as simple as that.

Why don't you just buy some cheap ass X terminals, wire them along with the speaker cables back to the main server, and use XMMS with multiple sound cards; you could even check out NAS, the network audio system (which just so happens to have a description of 'gets the sound to the right place' or something like that. Personally, I'd rather see someone make a home server with freebsd (rather, someone else; linux is too unstable.
Too bad they don't have flat screen, hangable, touch-screen X terminals yet...wave of the future, definately. If they don't come out, I'll make one and give it to ya just for the great idea of a multi-room mp3 server...damn, I want a house.
A. No one looks forward to playing a game where you stand in a circle and lose if you do something.
B. Structure, smucture, I hate 'em both. If it works, don't fix it, and it is broke don't brake it.
C. And no, the internet did not start as a beautiful, nor is it still. The internet started as a network for the U.S. DoD, I hardly call that beauty. And with complete and total freedom, I hardly call the modern internet beauty either, it's chaotic, anarchic. Don't ya love it?

This is only partially a myth...
1. Most hackers wouldn't use large software packages in the first place. It's called mix 'n' match, whatever works works.
2. If you're not familiar with the code base, why are you trying to fix it in the first place? If you don't understand the . then don't fuck with it.
3. Why should we? Testing takes to long. If it works,... If it doesn't, don't use it.

Investigative journalism unnecessary? How long have you been out of school? As a high school studen myself, I'm tired. I'm tired of all the crap I put up with in the name of Education. Dress this way, speak this way, look this way, walk this way, learn this way, blah blah blah. I don't tell them what to do, why should they tell me? Is Education not for _my_ benifit?
Of course it _is_. However, there are certainly plenty of restrictions that make Education evil. Monotony is one, and sameness is the other. I'm tired of having no voice in my damn school. You know, up until the end of last year, I had no idea we even had a student council, let alone all the meetings leave somewhat to be desired: the outcome maybe?
I'm not on the student council, and I have no clue what they've been discussing or what they've even accomplished. How shall I find out? And when I do find out, what should I do with the info? Hmm...sounds like a real good place for that ``investigative journalism'' as you so cool it; oh, wait, I forgot: it's not necessary, so I thin k I'll just fuck it.

If anyone is whining, it's surely you.
Soon it will be RedHat - it already is, for good reason.

Exactly. As much as I hate cliches in general, if you want something fixed, fix it your own damn self, lazy.
