the whole point of cryptology is to make something unreadable for a certain period of time. Who cares if Joe Blob of the NSA can decrypt me credit card number 10 years after I bought a book online from amazon.com?
Is there any reason why a person like me, who only uses encryption to securely purchase something online, should care about this?
