Btw, this comment was direct to that person who had said "We don't love Osama bin Laden either. What do you want to do about it?" and I meant, don't ask what questions ask why questions, but asking how questions isn't any better than what questions anyway.
How about you ask why questions not how questions. Why do we hate Osama? He killed many innocent people, now you ask, why did he kill many innocent people? Then comes the long answer which points to our govt, our govt is at fault and should fix this problem. Not cause more problems by taking away freedom, not by military force. Ask why, not how. When we go for the source of the problem it can be fixed without future problems. Kicking an object to make it work may make it work for the time being, but can cause future problems. Don't kick it, fix it. My friend kicked his computer and it fixed the problem, then later it broke.
Has the/. community forgotten the difference between hacked and cracked? The site was "broken" into, so the correct term to use is "cracked" not "hacked". A hack would be an improvement so to speak.
Has anyone noticed that the Linux community asks questions like, "What can we do to attract (programmers, artists, gamers, architects, etc.)?" and "What do we need to improve...?" and "What do we need to work on?" various questions like that. While I'm sure Microsoft asks questions like "What can we do to make more money?" or "What can we do to lock them into our Operating System and software?"
Makes you wish that people would realize that the Linux community thinks a lot about the rest of the world out there, compared to some of these large companies.
I request that you all go and find a game you like at lokigames.com and buy it. Support them, we need more support for Linux gaming, let us get some real game programming on Linux and show them what our community can do.
Now start coding and don't forget about Loki.

Seems to me like the competition over what media format out there will be the standard is still going on. Isn't the mp3 format more dominant? It's all about the Intellectual Property, I say to those companies, give up, just work on a format you can all agree on and one that no one controls.
DMCA is bad enough as it is. The people speak out, yet congress doesn't listen. They listen to the big dollars that the companies throw at them. The people are right, they unlike the companies are not corrupt as a whole. I say revolution, the OSS revolution must be extended to a revolt against all the corrupt laws that have been and are being passed. There is one thing that takes away from the natural course of technology and society and that is laws, especially Intellectual Property. When laws are corrupt then what else is there to say about society?
Offtopic? That post is not offtopic. Stupid moderators. I'm sure I'll be modded down, some of those d#$% moderators think to highly of themselves. btw, I did say "some" not all.
When will they ever learn that you can't copy protect anything, no matter what, it will be broken. It's just a natural thing. D*mn millionaires, they just won't give up and live their lives, what are they trying to accomplish? One person can live on a million dollars for many years and still be happy(atleast 10 years). A waste of time. We need to stop with the copy-protection that is only in the interest of the rich and worry about getting rid of these darn'd lawyers and other scum of the earth, they can find something better to do.
Ok, 5 years does sound a bit crazy, and probably just hype. But you should really think about all of this, and don't comment if you really don't understand what your talking about. The thing is that although their chip isn't the fastest it has many other advantages.
First off it has lots of room for improvement.
Also think about the problems with todays processors, handheld devices, laptops, etc. Heat, power consumption, size, and others. If this new processor does what they say it will do then it may be the best one for handhelds laptops, and even information appliances. Just think abou it.
Their claim of being 5 years ahead doesn't mean they have a processor thats faster by 5 years, they didn't specify speed , they are talking about overall time for companies such as Intel and AMD to catch up. If Intel or AMD wanted to create a new processor to produce as little or less heat as the new Crusoe chip, they would need to develop a whole new chip, which by Transmeta's calculations is 5 years.
Although Transmeta has its claims, just remember that until we see it for ourselves, don't always buy the hype. But please do listen and learn. The responses I see are sometimes quite ignorant, especially considering this is supposed to be a News for Nerds site. So before you post a comment please think about what your going to say.

The govt and the terrorists are at war, and they're using innocent civilians as their medium. It's their war not ours, leave us out of it.

How do you obtain energy using tides/waves?
I'm a little confused on the details.

I've been thinking why they don't create a faster way to boot a computer for a long time. rzbx
