The way I see it, in the long run a shortage will be good for IT workers. It creates higher demand, which allows us to ask for money and better benefits. Companies that treat their IT employees poorly (read Mattel Interactive) will tank. They don't understand that IT professionals won't put up with marketing wankers screwing up projects, but they'll learn the hard way. Bottom line, ask for more and put up with less.
