I really think Apple should consider a full transition to fashion trend-setter and drop all this expensive technology stuff. Then they could really sell more iPads.
Well, as you illustrate, context makes all the difference.
In practice, it seems that long interrupt response is usually associated with processors and supporting hardware that includes pre-fetching, caching and other non-deterministic characteristics that render software loop timing unpredictable. Of course, sometimes that doesn't matter.
I can honestly say in my 20+ years in the industry (including 10 years in embedded systems) I've never heard anyone claim that polling is superior to servicing interrupts.
Now, if you can use a interrupt-driven real-time OS that allows you a lot of flexibility in waking up tasks, that's even better.
If you think all "real" economists buy into the idea that any tax is a drag on the economy you should follow your own advice and talk to some.
For example, Nobel prize winner in economics Paul Krugman says:
"Other things equal, public investment is a much better way to provide economic stimulus than tax cuts, for two reasons. First, if the government spends money, that money is spent, helping support demand, whereas tax cuts may be largely saved. So public investment offers more bang for the buck. Second, public investment leaves something of value behind when the stimulus is over."
The mini has an audio input but it's line-level, so you can't use an inexpensive mic unless you have a pre-amp.
You could certainly use Bluetooth, but that's typically going to cost you more than the USB peripherals.
Again, the idea was supposed to be an easy way to transition from a PC to a Mac. People with a bit older PCs would be more likely to upgrade then those who recently purchased an up-to-date PC.
The point is that the Mini was promoted as a way for people to switch from the PC with minimum trouble. Including PS/2 connectors would have better met that goal without discouraging any customers with USB-only peripherals.
So Apple loses a few sales. No biggie since they have plenty of other successful products and seem to be transitioning out of desktop systems anyway.
Berners-Lee wasn't directly involved in the development of the intial XML spec.
"What was Thomas Edison's second successful contribution to the incandescent light bulb?
The carbonized bamboo filament.
What was Hyman Rickover's second successful contribution to nuclear powered naval vessels?
The indictment of P. Takis Veliotis.
"What was William Shatner's second successful contribution to science fiction on TV?"
His portrayal of the Big Giant Head on 3rd Rock from the Sun.
I don't think Jesus took credit for the New Testament - he just lived it.
OK, I'll bite. What was B-L's 2nd successful contribution to the Web?
You like to spit or be spit upon? Or do you just to like to see other people spit?
should thank the gods for his good fortune and not hog the stage.

OK, but if the tax base is too low there won't be enough money to pay the police to protect Apple's prototypes.
The point being that many corporations benefit from government services as well as the laws that have been the result of their lobbying.
"How rich do you need to be in order to pay for your own national defence?"
Here in the US we don't pay for national defense any more - we mostly just attack at will.
You'd be surprised how popular USB to serial converters are.

"The subset of people who would want a Mini and who refuse to upgrade past PS/2 keyboards and mice is null."
Hey, you're gutsy to claim that nobody on the entire earth decided not to buy a Mini because they couldn't use their existing PS/2 peripherals.
Most people avoid such broad statements because such statements require only one case to render the statement false.

It's not about what you love, but what you already have.
Besides, the only difference I can see between using a USB keyboard or a PS/2 keyboard is that the former has a bulkier connector.
Sure, because if the device isn't ascetically pleasing and someone looks at it, it will explode.
has room for your monitor, keyboard, and mouse too.

Well, it's aimed at people who already have a USB keyboard, a USB mouse and a USB microphone.
