Agree with the point about the bridge - very very good.
Perhaps this is the authors first IB or even IMB book? Like myself, I was first blown away, then settled into enjoying his books more evenly.
Point about women being men with breasts?: is this not a common critisim of IB/IMB ala the Chegarians in LTW being extremely comparable to men in tiger suits?
Some interesting points, nevertheless.

Very good book, if you want an intro to java server-side dev
