Much (possibly all) of this book is available as the first half of the Graphics Programming Black Book which is available online at http://planetmirror.com.au/pub/gpbb/, and elsewhere. I have to agree that even though the book is dated on architecture, it is extremely worthwhile to read if you are a programmer of any sort and especially if you are an assembly programmer.

How are the lists of questions and responses updated? I read somewhere that you had to manually go in and update responses to popular questions, but could there be an automated process to perform the same procedure using human responses to Alice's questions and create a feedback loop of sorts?

Security. It's my understanding that you cannot compromise NTFS simply by rebooting with a boot disk. FAT32 is allegedly vulnerable to this.

This isnt entirely true. There is a linux program that lets you set account passwords on both NTFS and FAT32 NT partitions (upto and including Win2k Advanced Server, not sure about XP though) and can be run entirely off of a floppy. You can grap it here. Its a good one to add to anyone's toolkit, saved my life a couple times.

Does anyone know exactly how many signatures it would take to pass a law into existence? I would assume it would be some percentage of the total population for a given state, but I have no idea what that percentage would be.

Ive often thought the existence of online voting and initiatives would radically change the demographics of the voting population. Potentially, it could mean politicians take younger people seriously for a change.

With the advent of quantum search algorithms that can turn O(n) problems into O(1), how would that effect problems in NP? If one comes up with a quantum algorithm that solves traveling salesman or some other NP-complete problems what does that mean for P=NP?
