Your argument is basically this then: "I can't really argue against your point because i don't know anything about the subject. But I'm still really butt hurt about the last time you reamed me in a discussion. So I'm going to e-stalk you and recover from the shame of the last thread."
As it happens, you never will if your objective is to try and win against me. You'll never beat me that way. I have a fool proof way of beating little pinheads like you. Instead of trying to win, I try to be right. And by being right, I win.
See how that works? Of course not. It sounds like nonsense to you because you don't understand the distinction between winning and being right or the relationship between the two concepts.
Regardless, the euros have repeatedly over stated their carbon reductions by not properly reporting the carbon debt from imported coal derived electricity.
They shifted from exporting power to importing it. They say they're getting it from nuclear... but the Poles are building coal fired power plants as fast as they can to keep up with German demand and they're talking about building two nuclear power plants just to feed the demand.
Someone actually sent me some links from germany elsewhere in this thread. I'll cite them for you if you like.
I have really great discussions with people on this site all the time. People that disagree with me as well.
The fact that I conflict with various idiots on this board does not mean that I cannot or do not have good discussions with people on this site with some frequency.;-)
The first link is mostly the poles complaining that the german power grid is very unpredictable and causes problems for people trying to load balance.
This is something US utilities have said as well with solar and wind. It jumps all over the place and it is very hard to load balance.
The second article talks about how increased demand for energy as well as pressure from the EU is making poland consider building two large nuclear power plants. That isn't showing a lack of profitability that is showing vigorous demand.
And the third article says Poland is mostly running on coal and is increasing capacity with more coal power plants.
Please quote... in german if you like... where it says that Poland's export of power is not profitable?
I didn't lie. Saying you were backing the UK model is valid. You are arguing for socialized healthcare so I cited a country with socialized healthcare and started going through their stats to see why there were price differences.
Lying requires intentional deceit. It is literally impossible for me to lie to YOU about what YOU believe. You know what you believe.
I could lie to someone else about what you believe but no one else is reading this so it isn't even possible for me to lie about this unless you think I'm trying to gaslight you? That is... trick you into believing you believe or did or something happened that didn't happen?
Your accusation is retarded. As in, the accusation a retard would make. Make a less stupid accusation or I'll have to conclude you are in fact wearing a football helmet and typing by bashing your pudding covered face into the break room keyboard from an institution somewhere.
See? I assure you... if you continue to be a shit head, I will find ways to amuse myself at your expense. Stop being a waste of oxygen and we can have a real discussion. Continue... and I'll keep spooging my smack talk on your face.
You're the one that decided to get all pissy about being associated with the UK for no reason despite it being effectively one of the nations you're holding up as an example of how the US should be instead.
I even asked you to tell me what country you are standing behind and you patiently refused.
This puts me at a rhetorical disadvantage because I can't attack your position or show weakenesses in your position because you're not defining anything and you're making a point of not associating yourself with anything.
And for some this is a good tactic only it isn't because your leverage in the discussion is relative to your exposure. If you expose nothing then you have no leverage. If you support nothing then you basically don't have an argument.
Last chance.
Tell me which country you're holding up as superior. I will pull their statistics and start comparing them in a more intelligent way than the stupid politicians and brainless internet trolls will... and we'll get to the bottom of what is causing cost inflation.
That is if you care about the issue at all and are not merely just a troll yourself.
I have ZERO regard for your rhetorical horseshit.
It is not clever, tricky, or credible. Its just annoying and stupid.
So cite a country and I'll engage the issue. But I'd really be surprised if you have the balls to do that at this point. You seem entirely fixated on the tactic of being uncounterable. without realizing that the price of that is that you can't win.
Riiiiight... me and the anyone else that has ever had to grow anything. We're all stupid.
First, maintaining non-pest insect predators for every possible pest species is fucking difficult and very expensive.
Second, you do realize that insects will eat fucking anything right? I mean, are you claiming that garlic plants never get eaten by insects? Its fucking garlic. What about Peppers? The problem I was having was WITH pepper plants. And do you know where the insects were eating the peppers? From below. Their roots. I had insects eating the roots of my pepper plants.
To open your comment to me with "you're a moron" and then your solutions are this crap? Whatever, bro. You're clearly having anger issues and think misdirecting that at me is going to relieve some stress or something. Dumb comment on your part. But pretty typical for the internet.
It's the same fucking number. The only numbers I've seen for this over 50 percent require that the receiver basically sit right on top of the transmitter. I mean... literally on top of it.
At which point because the transmitter is plugged in... exactly how is this system wireless at all?
This is what I consider to be wireless power... like wifi or bluetooth. If your phone charges in your pocket because you just happen to be in an area with transmission... just around you. That is wireless power.
But as they say that is dangerous because you start charging stuff that could throw a spark or short out or something. And the efficiency is horrific.
The issue isn't charging anyway. Phones charge pretty fast and the charge lasts for a long time unless you're one of those idiots that has to have all his radios on at once. Yes... if you turn your bluetooh, wifi, wireless data, and GPS on all at once the power doesn't last very long... don't do that.
The issue is the batteries are too small.
Remember what cell phones looked like in the early 90s? giant fucking battery on them. Now... imagine if you were willing to put that kind of volume into battery capacity today. Power problem solved. Run all your stupid radios all day... you will not drain that battery before you go home at night and can let it charge while you sleep.
The phones are fashion victims. They're those little anorexic models that look lie they crawled out of a gulag. Thin... sure... but you also look like you're crying for help too.
Here someone will say "but I like it when my phone is this thin"... fine. That feature comes at the price of having shitty battery life.
By the way, has anyone personally ever tried to grow a lot of plants? My god the insects. I went through something like 5 different pesticides to kill these little fruit flies that were giving me a horrible problem.
I tried all the organic stuff. Aromatic oils... insecticidal soaps... The aromatic oils make my plants smell like a dumpster filled with cheap perfume... on fire. And the soaps do totally kill the insects that I personally nail with the soap... But... anything I miss is going to be fine. I went through this progression of increasingly aggressive pesticides. I think the last one I used worked... I'm still waiting to make sure. But it appears to have finally killed about 90 percent of the insect population. I'm looking for 100 percent but maybe that's too much to hope for.
Next move is to try some friendly bacterias and other organisms that are said to be good at killing the pest in question. But yeah. Once you've dealt with this you get a lot sympathy for farmers dealing with pests. You start to have this reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
... or the NYT's has been a shameless rag for years and some people are only just starting to realize it.
I grand the paper has a history to it. But those days are gone.
Their editorial department is filled with almost literally crazy people and most of their other departments are compromised by shotty editorial policies.
Lets put it this way... is the NYTs a paper that can charge for content?
No they're not. A lot of local newspapers are able to charge for access to their online site. And then there are a few national and international publications that can charge as well.
The New York Times is not one of them. Their readership collapses online if they charge anything.
Markets don't work reliabily at regulating manipulated markets.
If the conditions the market is responding to are fees, taxes, penalites, and subsidies... then you've created a situation where sure the company could obey all the rules and do just what you want them to do.
OR
They could simply understand the loopholes, buy favor from politicians, hide what they did in bent statistics, and laugh all the way to the bank.
Which of the two is more likely to happen here?
Politicians can typically be bought for about 1 percent of what a company stands to make off the GROSS of a crooked contract. So if you stand to make a million dollars, the politician can be bought for about ten grand. And the great thing is that politicians get CHEAPER per dollar as the contract sizes swell. So if you're doing something that might net you 10,000,000,000 dollars... you might be able to buy the politician for 500,000 or so. A bargain.
Which is why these little cap and trade schemes are so popular with businesses. All the establishment industries can't wait for cap and trade.
They'll all get exemptions by some means and all their upstate competitors will get fucked. The government shill politicians get to claim they're doing something for the environment and the entrenched business interests get control of the market.
You don't manipulate the market and then expect the market to correct things. The market's only objective is to maximize returns on a granular basis. To get the best deal for person A-Z. And that deal is only going to resemble your ideal to the extent that you set it up perfectly, give control of the management to competent people, those people are incorruptable, etc.
And how likely is any of that? If you want the market to grid away on the issue then you have to be transparent and absolute in your terms. No exemptions, no exceptions, ifs, no ands, no buts, no maybes.
You have to take a cleaver, close your eyes, and swing. if that knocks your own fucking fingers off in the process because it turned out your hand happened to be holding the meat... that's how it had to be.
The French recently made a stab at setting up a carbon trading system and it backfired hilariously because it was exactly what I said this turns into. All the big industries in France got waivers. It was only new businesses and consumers that were going to get fucked. I think their courts struck it down. But the point was that the bill never would have even been passed if it didn't include those exemptions.
Politicians talk a big game when they're on camera but in the back room most of them are on their knees deep throating someone.
Okay... so robot responds that he can only respond with programmed information. Good to know talking point bot.
You don't actually have opinions then and your answers are not your own which means I'm not arguing with a person here. I'd like to have the discussion but there are apparently no people here to have it with.
You could win a nuclear war if you had an endless number of guys with sharp sticks.
The thing is that if things are done in a dumb way then there are two ways to fix it.
1. Stop doing the dumb thing. 2. Throw money at the problem until it goes away.
What you're saying is that management will look at the bill and say "we're not paying that"... and I agree... they never have and never will.
But then you're not making the leap to where you get that that means you have to go with option 1 which is to not do things in the dumb way.
I'm getting attacked by a lot of people in this thread.
I've been called a nazi.
I've been called someone that is only out for personal power as if I care how much horse porn people jack off to.
I've been accused of being lazy because apparently I'm bad at my job if I do things efficiently.
As to your reasons why you wouldn't bring your own device... I can appreciate not wanting to let the company control your property. That's reasonable. But by the same token why would they let you control theirs? Same thing... only they potentially have more to risk than the fact that you're having sex with your wife's sister. Organizational systems get penetrated and it can really hurt an organization or worse it can threaten whatever it is that the organization does... government or corporate. Fucking up the office is bad... but undermining the business model or undermining the function of a government agency is another entirely.
Also, I'm perfectly happy to help the company out so long as the boss notices it. This anti corporate anti management stuff is career poison. I don't know why people spew this stuff. it is noticed and there are consequences. Don't do that. Shut the fuck up, do your job, make everyone happy with you, and your chances getting paid more or given more responsibility which you can leverage to make them give you more money go up. Lots of people at work hate me. Management loves me. Bonus every year. Guess how much I care Mike in accounting thinks I'm an asshole? If anything I'm glad he thinks I'm an asshole because it means he knows I am completely fucking serious when I say I'm going to do something. He knows I'll do it.
And because of that, he doesn't fucking try me. And that ladies and gentlemen is respect. The sure knowledge of quick and righteous retribution.
As I said, most IT security people have battered wife's syndrome. They take the shit for granted. They take the disrespect. They take it all and just say that's normal or people can't help themselves or some other excuse as to why their job is being systematically sabotaged by irresponsible, selfish, unprofessional, ignorant, children.
I fucking refuse. I have to fight these fuckwits every so often. My god the hours spent making little presentations to educate management why they're about to unzip their flies and stick their dicks in blender.
So far I've not had to give an inch. Lucky maybe. But I've also caught a lot of people that were trying to steal etc and I never let management forget it. That gives me enough credibility when pressed to get deference.
That said, I do try to not be a dick. People are given an orientation... I give lots of what I hope are taken as friendly warnings.
But you know... after getting warned for the same thing three times in a row and the person being warned just tries to be sneakier every time... Fuck him.
Here is the thing, you compromise the system enough and IT security just throws their hands up. There aren't enough of us, no company or government is going to pay enough to secure those systems, and so what happens is that you get shit security.
So yeah. Not fucking up the system does make it easier. But fucking it up can also make it IMPOSSIBLE to secure it.
In fact, so much of IT security has battered wife syndrome at this point that we just take it in stride that systems can't be secured.
Oh you know hank... he's just had a hard day... he can't help it.
And frankly... this attitude is fucking up IT horribly.
If people want to do new things on the system or access things in a new way. That's great. We can come up with a secure way to do that. The solution is not to bypass the security, hook up the machine people install angry birds on, and hope for the best... because after all "who would hack us, right guys?"
As to shareholders... lets not pretend anyone gives a shit about shareholders. No one cares about them.
teh company doesn't, the government doesn't, the exchange doesn't, the trading houses don't... their fucking brokers don't care.
Here is what matters... what management wants. Is management beholden to the shareholders? To some of them maybe not honestly even then CEOs etc tend to view shareholders as amusing peasants. You'd need to have voting shares to at least be considered remotely credible. And really what management cares about more than anything is their stock options. Which means they care about what their stock will sell for when it matures which could be tomorrow... after which all their fucks are gone.
Anyway, shareholders aside... to the issue of what is best for the company, that is often a very dubious question. You don't actually know a lot of the time what is best. Every new fad comes along with promises of improved productivity or lowered costs and it frequently doesn't happen. So did people lie when they said X or Y would happen? No... but they did imply that they knew something was going to happen or had some grasp of the issue when in fact they had little more than assumptions, biases, and hopes.
I see no way in which BYOD helps anything. What are you doing on your iphone that you couldn't do on a company blackberry?
Literally... what are you doing for the company with that expensive fashion accessory that you couldn't do with the approved company hardware? Because my evaluation is that you are typing less effectively because virtual keyboards are shit. The blackberry is not a perfect device but for a business it really does a much better job of complying with organizational priorities.
And the arguments I've heard against such devices are pretty much just giant whines about how they're not pretty or its a pain to charge your free phone which you're often permitted to make personal calls on so long as you don't call phone sex lines in on the other side of the planet.
What are you even talking about anymore? Are we talking about healthcare or are you so afraid of the actual argument that you have to cloud the issue with your endless stream of bullshit?
You're a liar, a coward, and an idiot.
Here are you options. Talk about healthcare or I am rhetorically just going to urinate in your face. You're not worth any more respect from me than that if you can't even be moderately honest.
I already see you're afraid and it is obvious to anyone you're a fool. BUT... we can continue and I will be polite to you if you JUST conduct yourself with a LITTLE integrity. Just a bit. If you can't even do that... then you're nothing but place for me to dispose of my waste.
this isn't even remotely new technology... and it fails for a lot of reasons.
1. you still need wires because the charging transmitters need to be plugged in and they only have a limited range so you're still going to be charging in roughly the same place.
2. The efficiency hinted at in there is horrific. I think its something like 20 percent in most cases and that's on top of the AC/DC conversion. So you lose 20~30 percent converting to DC and then you lose 80 percent of of the remainder transmitting it.
3. The cost of the systems usually isn't that bad but 30~50 dollars is still 30~50 dollars.
Nope, that's literally what you did and its super obvious.
Look, shit for brains, if you want to have a rational discussion then you need to not rely utterly on the most stupid text book logical fallacies imaginable.
Strawmanning me is not acceptable. It will not sustain a position. So you can either clean your act up OR I can just treat you as a safe target to practice my smack talk on. Because you have literally no value besides as a dehumanized punching bag if you decide to conduct yourself with no integrity at all.
You're right. And I think OPM is really leading the way with this revolution you're talking about. From what we hear they didn't even have an IT security department until a year ago and that was probably a mistake.
The hack they had wouldn't have even been noticed in the first place without people me.
You don't know what you're talking about. You're another snotty user that thinks his parents are poopy heads because they won't let him install malware on the company network.
And users like you are not a problem usually. My job is child proofing the system so you can't kill yourselves or hurt the organization.
The problem is when people like you get promoted above your competence into management. And then start elbowing your other lackwit cronies and giggling about how the security people are always exaggerating or they just want to control stuff because they're busy bodies or something. Never mind that the hacks never happen to the systems they are allowed to lock down and always happen in the networks and systems they are systematically sabotaged out of managing.
You are information security cancer. I would feed you poison, bombard you with radiation, and then cut out your withered corpse as medical waste.
now... which of us delivered a hotter burn? I think I win. My burn was hotter... BUUUURN.:D
I actually challenged you quite directly to form a more nuanced argument that wasn't just a childishly simplistic cookie cutter political talking point you memorized and then vomited at me like some sort of revolting parrot.
I'm not even talking about money. I'm talking about their little statistics where they claim "we reduced our carbon foot print by X percent in Y year"... what they don't tell you is that they did that by exporting power production outside of the scope of the statistics thus rendering the statistics themselves little more than a circle jerk.
So I am locked to the US and you can cite any socialist medical system collectively without a problem. But if I reference any of them specifically for comparison then I'm a liar?
Rejected for logical inconsistency.
I am already being held to much higher standards in this discussion than you are. And that's fine... I don't mind because I'm so much smarter than you and so much better researched that it isn't hard for me to play with a handicap. But that handicap is one that only exists because I don't mind it. The instant I decide it is inconvenient to what I'm saying, I'm going to ignore it because it isn't binding on my behavior.
You're not being held to any kind of standards at all. None.
So sure... I'll accept some standards on myself... I'm better than you... But I'm not going to let you simply win by allowing you to arbitrarily tie me up with rules that you're not following. I'll follow any rule you follow. And I'll follow any rule I think I should follow. And I'll follow any rule that doesn't inconvenience me.
If you're not following a given rule. If I don't think I need to follow the rule. And if it is inconvenient for me to follow it... then I'm not going to follow it.
You could win ANY argument simply by forcing your opposition to follow a bunch of arbitrary rules that you're not subjected to. I could beat Michael Jordan at basketball if he had to walk on his hands and dribble the ball with his feet. Best player in the world... older now... but I have always sucked at that game. And I could beat him if he were handicapped that hard.
So, no fuckface. I'm not going to let you control the way I construct my arguments or conduct myself arbitrarily especially when you're not following any of those rules yourself.
Be specific please... or I'm just going to say Santa's industrial toy factory in the north pole populated almost entirely by a race of magically enslaved elf laborers.
You know where the elves went at the end of Lord of the rings... their magical island of eternal life etc... yeah...
Gandolf enslaved them all, developed an eating disorder, and now gives the children of the world toys as a kind of ego boost.
Sorry... I don't know what else to respond with to extremely vague comments. So I either polish my smack talk, ignore them, or spew amusing (TO ME) nonsense.
If you want an intelligent response then make a complete argument.
More strawmanning?
Is that literally all you can do?
Your argument is basically this then:
"I can't really argue against your point because i don't know anything about the subject.

If you want to debate me on any of then log in.
Okay... so robot responds that he can only respond with programmed information. Good to know talking point bot.
You don't actually have opinions then and your answers are not your own which means I'm not arguing with a person here. I'd like to have the discussion but there are apparently no people here to have it with.
Resources is always the issue with anything.
Fuck him.
http://www.sourcewatch.org/ind...
Total 4,582MW from out of state coal.
That's twice the capacity of the old san onofre nuclear power plant.
Well... you say simple, I would say "possible".
BUUUURN. :D
Fucking stupid users. :D
*gives nerd swirly*
you know... the ice cream cone...
From the end of a dog... ...just the way the ice cream dispenser is shaped... It is ice cream...
Chocolate flavored... with nuts... and corn kernels...
I actually challenged you quite directly to form a more nuanced argument that wasn't just a childishly simplistic cookie cutter political talking point you memorized and then vomited at me like some sort of revolting parrot.
Was that not completely obvious?
I'm not even talking about money. I'm talking about their little statistics where they claim "we reduced our carbon foot print by X percent in Y year"... what they don't tell you is that they did that by exporting power production outside of the scope of the statistics thus rendering the statistics themselves little more than a circle jerk.
Evasion.
Eat all the dicks. All of them.
