I'd encourage people to visit www.raspberrypi.org to read the clarification we've posted. Summary
- we're in the process of accumulating parts kits for the first 10k unit production run - we'll be doing a phased launch, to avoid the risk of kicking out 10k units and having them come straight back with a trivial early-life bug - the majority of devices will be available on a first-come first-served basis, with a small number held back for continuity of supply to key partners
That's certainly our thinking. You can see what we're doing here as a first stab at redefining the price point and set of tradeoffs for an entry-level desktop PC. It's not perfect (the ARM11 in particular is only just good enough), but I suspect in ten years' time we'll be looking back wondering why we used to spend a couple of hundred bucks on a system unit for a machine to surf the web and run office software.
Very sensible. You'll notice we're not taking pre-orders for these boards until we have them in *our* hands.

Tight fit. Will your credit card fit in an Altoid's tin (sorry, don't have one to hand)?

The HDMI tax is actually remarkably reasonable.
No, but most of them can pick up an old analogue TV for free at the refuse tip (at least in the UK). Eben Upton Director, Raspberry Pi Foundation
