Story Telling Capability of Video Games

Obviously, anybody who can claim that video games are not as good at telling a story as Hollywood or TV, hasn't played Squaresoft's Final Fantasy series. FF2(FFIV in Japan) was one of the most compelling storylines I've experienced in modern media. Most people, though, are only familiar with FFVII and VIII which are both excellent games. I don't believe that Hollywood will ever be able to deliver 20+ hours of storyline and keep it's audience's attention, let alone attract such a horde of followers. How many movies have come out that keep people coming back for XXXX movie IX???? From what I gather, it appears that the situation is even more obvious in Japan (you know, the guys who get the FF series a year ahead of the rest of us). A song from a VIDEO GAME made the top of their charts! (eyes on me, FFVIII). Well, that's my two cents.
