Anyway, does anyone have any idea on what kind of tech they are planning to use?
Couple of Linksys routers with some sooper special version of dd-wrt.
If you wanted to be lazy you can use something like iredmail, roundcube and owncloud (has carddav/caldav support). That'd pretty much give you what you're looking for.
Erm... AMD64 doesn't mean AMD proc's.
Um.. so sorta like Ampache's Democratic Play feature? http://ampache.org/wiki/democratic
