People who are gamers usually possess a PC. Lower income families often don't possess such a machine and also kids from such families often don't go on to college and well paid jobs. Thus the fact that many gamers go to college may be due to the fact that they are typically from a middle class 'comfortable' background and not due to superior skills acquired from said gaming.
I have been noding on Everything2 for a couple of months. Initially my writeups didn't accrue impressive XP. However, as I became more experienced I managed to get C!ed. Now I know the level of writing required to make it to the Cream of the Cool.
I feel this experience has honed my creative writing skills and my analytical abilities. To compile fact based nodes, I have researched literature on the net and elsewhere. I have been inspired to find out about things beyond my everyday experience.
I remember the bit in the movie about the Apollo mission came close to disaster. The CO2 unit was in trouble and engineers on the ground had to come up with a DIY CO2 unit quickly.
The inventiveness of the engineers and astronauts should see them through this one.
