if you're concerned about encryption in the cloud check out truefriender. Full disclosure, I created truefriender specifically for this purpose and the way I've implemented the algorithms I can't see your data without your private key.

I agree with you, they are going to push us into private networks until they are monitoring your individual computers. Hopefully people can move off of public facing servers to ones with more privacy protection. I created truefriender for this reason, I'm just trying to get the word out to people who might be interested in this sort of thing.

I read these types of comments all the time, people want secure social networks. I have created a secure social network, truefriender.com its very difficult to get people who don't care about privacy to use it. I challenge you to use it, try it out, and give me feedback. And maybe you can be the person who changes people's minds. (Well at least your friends anyway)

I created a free site, truefriender but the free users are subsidized by the paying users, the 5 gig account is free. And unlike facebook, since there is a direct path to income, advertisements are not needed, and neither is personal information, so we encrypt everything. We are trying to make a secure private social network. Please don't mod this down cause I'm just trying to get the word out to people who might be interested in this service.

Some people are aware of this and are genuinely concerned. I'm probably going to get down-modded for this but as a concerned programmer, I made a website called truefriender specifically for this reason. I just have no idea how to tell everyone about it without sounding like a spam-bot. It is worthwhile to check out if you're concerned.

I've been looking for a post like this. Now I can self promote as well, then again this comment may be marked as spam but here goes.

I created a website called truefriender.com its in open alpha. This is a social network that will allow you to share stuff with people that you're friends with in real life. Everything is encrypted with AES 256 bit encryption and you have a key that is not stored on the server.

As more companies do this, they will push us to more private and secluded networks, where we start encrypting everything.

    Check it out: https://truefriender.com/
