the main problem i have with the net being a space of democracy is that it offers the opportunity to be whatever your not, since there is no physical limitations to what you can see and hear - hence alter ego's and the like. if everyone had the same aims it could be democratic but i dont see that happening at all - net communities (*usenet*) are the net equivalent of real-world minority groups - both exclusive and excluded. theres lots of opportunity here but i don't see anyone using it to the full.(*endofrant*)
