I wouldn't really say the region is "prone" to flooding since there hasn't been flooding like this in over 50 years.
Last time I checked, the US was frequently ravaged by hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, and flooding.... and union strikes.
Besides, Thailand's civil issues haven't effected their manufacturing at all. Those red vs yellow protests are only a few thousand people.
