  1. Re:Glass beads / Aluminium Oxide on Effortless Cutting Blades? · · Score: 1

I've just had a lot of my teeth drilled using a similar method. They call it 'air abrasion' - basically sandblasting your teeth with Aluminium Oxide particles.

So far I've not needed anesthetic for any filling, and this is after 18 years of neglect, so you can see that it's fast and very precise.

  2. Resitivity of tar deposits? on The Effects of Smoking on Your Computer? · · Score: 1

I too have had the misfortune to work on a friend's PC - she was a fairly heavy smoker, and everything inside the case was coated in a smelly brown goo, presumably an amalgam of tar & housedust.

I was installing a sound card, not fixing a fault, but it did get me wondering - what are the issues in depositing a mildly conductive film on your motherboard?

  3. Orange OGP tariff on Wireless Text Messaging w/o A Phone? · · Score: 1

I know you said you didn't want a phone, but it's probably the cheapest option. I'm on the Orange OVP (orange value promise) tariff - it's their price match for Virgin/One-to-one.
The trick is that you purchase the phone outright. So you could get a really cheap model. Then after that, there is no line rental, and SMS messages are (I think) 10p each.

Strictly speaking, this isn't 'infiltration', but it's a great walkthrough of a Cold War radar installation in the UK. You can almost smell the decay..

"la Manche" actually translates to "the sleeve" - presumably because the English Channel is sleeve-shaped(ish)?

Mind you, "the tunnel under the sleeve" doesn't quite sound right, does it?
