Yeah that had me puzzled as well. There was a good reason that Islamic scholars during the golden age contributed so much to math. Math was heavily used by the Muslims for matters of faith like calculating prayer times, religious taxes and inheritance shares.

Bullshit. The theory of evolution does not require that you prove that god does not exist. It just redefines what god (if you believe in him) did and didn't do.

I used to be a creationist who was closer to the fence than most, and it was material like this proposed debate that finally lit a bulb in my head and allowed me to cross over.

I listened to an old interview with the late Carl Sagan on Science Friday last week, and one of his bones of contention was the haughtiness of the scientific community in regards to reacting to pseudo science.

Just speculation here, but if they're going to offer an android app, then chances are that you can use it on any of the Android e-ink devices (Kindle and Nook being the most well known) after you root it. I have a rooted Nook Glow that is now basically an e-ink Android tablet. Not really well suited for games and video, but awesome when it comes to reading static text and images.

"Bimbo" is miles different in meaning and connotation from "Bozo". "Bimbo", as I'm sure you well know, is derogatory term used to denote sexual promiscuity. Calling Mayers a bad business woman is one thing, but casting doubt on her sexual practices is uncalled for and if anything is indicative of the gross chauvinism in the geek world. 25. Re:Dinosaurs closer to Birds on Experiment Will Determine Dinosaur's Skin Color · · Score: 3, Informative

Why do birds descending from dinosaurs rule out reptiles descending from dinosaurs?

Given the huge amount of dinosaur races, wouldn't it be more likely that different dinosaur races evolved into different types of animals over time? This would make them equally related to dinosaurs, but not the same dinosaurs. For all we know their common ancestor could be a pre dinosaur animal even though both were dinosaurs at one point in time.

Actually dinosaurs (and birds now) are reptiles, but they're not lizards. While dinosaurs and lizards (and crocodilians) are descended from the same family tree, the dinosaurs and birds have very distinguishable anatomic differences. Dinos and birds have their legs stretched under them, while the rest of the reptiles have their legs stretched out of the sides.
