Lucky for me I read the fine article and since all my systems had a full Lion install (non-upgrade) it's not an issue. Also lucky for me I didn't use folder encryption in Snow Leopard. Also lucky for me I don't use FileVault.
afaik, iMac models with Thunderbolt have new-enough CPUs with IOMMU support - devices can have private VRAM. Whether or not Lion and PCI device drivers make use of it, dunno!
The police are an economical scam. With normal goods and services, supply and demand dictates spending. Well we here in Canada are experiencing the lowest crime rates since forever. Police know this and steadfastly refuse or make it nigh impossible to report or prosecute thieves and burglars (think break-ins) to skew crime statistics as best as possible It happened to me, a neighbour, and a grandmother. All separate incidents.
So when have we EVER seen any significant cut to police services when demand (crime is at an all-time low)? Never. Frankly, what the police fail to realize is, if everything really went to plan, their reward for doing a excellent/perfect job would be a pink slip.
Instead, we have them entrenching. And asking for more monies in new and trend setting ways. They have a budget. Now they want an ISP tax. Smells like MPAA and RIAA. This whole thing stinks.
[sorry for ranting].
Terrible ideas that would transform coding time to 98% on the oooh-aaah-slider and setup for endless runtime tests vs 2% of actual coding. This is worse than time wasted dealing with various Android incompatibilities!
Inspirational software engineer gibberish! His approach: a different way is a better way. Sell it. Sell it. Uhm, ok. Let's see some real world exmples of software projects using more than javascript joke code.
"It's the specs that Kosinski sent us. In my opinion, sir, they're gibberish."
Wholeheartedly agree. Would like to see unlimited (i.e. does not count towards monthly cap) from 11pm to 7am everyday. They ISP would see a significant drop during peak usage periods I think. Various download software could then be configured to use that window accordingly.
nothing in software is ever free of bugs. just because it's a bug-fix doesn't preclude the possibility of the bug-fix itself (or its side effects) from introducing new bugs, or being an incomplete fix which just happens to pass whatever inadequate test was thrown at it.
seagate 2TB 5900rpm was down to CAN$64.99 at local store, then the flood/gouging hit and today it's $169.99 (jumped from 3.5/GB to 8.5/GB).
at newegg was CAN$89.99, now $229.99 (jumped from 4.5/GB to 11.5/GB).
Clearly you didn't get the memo. It IS ok to attack someone for eating toejam. In public. Centre stage.

You deserve +50 for pointing this out.

If it has no caffeine it isn't coffee. Yes, this includes decaf.
At NASA we don't take chances , we double up on everything... including guesswork.

calm down google fan-boy/employee/puppet.
I'm not troubled by any of this. Canada First Nations represent only 2% of Canada ;)
