  1. Seeing something that wasn't there on The End Of The Amazon Era · · Score: 1

I just have to say, the lack of awareness regarding Amazon from JK is disheartening.

Jeff Bezos isn't some touchy feely, NewAge Guru. He cut his teeth on Wall Street.

Bezos has said -- repeatedly -- that he's not even going to try make a profit for investors before the next Century.

Why the name Amazon? Not a Xena fixation. Think "big river". As in the biggest source? Why do you think Wal Mart sued? Amazon -- from day one -- has planned to be the biggest online store on the web. period.

Becoming disillusioned with Amazon is absurd. It's a business kids, not a support group. They're doing exactly what they set out to do. If their service isn't up to your standards, then shop elsewhere.

  2. Here's the deal: on Open Source + Competition = Lean and Mean · · Score: 1

CNN and IDG (y'know, those dummies books...?) have a deal where CNN uses IDG's content for a lot of it's tech stories. IDG mags include InfoWorld, ComputerWorld, PCWorld, MacWorld, and yes, LinuxWorld. It is quite common for CNN to run an IDG article, but CNN gets to choose which articles they run: they don't have to run any particular article. So, yes, it's interesting that they choose to run a Joe Barr linux article. Linux is the mainstream now.

  3. Modifying headlines? on Red Hat Growing Pains · · Score: 1

For one thing, the phrase modifying headlines implies that RH is editing headlines. Which I haven't seen them doing. They omitting references to themselves.

But, on the idea that it's illegal, cowardly or morally suspect to reference certain stories on a website, but not others...well, doesn't that destroy the whole /. phenom? Doesn't /. not carry the full set of headlines from news sites?

  4. Piece of cake for me.... on Red Hat Growing Pains · · Score: 1

I agree, I had an easy install on RH 6.0. Jeeze, I was playing with GNOME in about 15 minutes, if that. I haven't had any serious probs. with GNOME either, for what's that's worth.

I wonder if some of the problems people are having is related to installed RH on older/outdated hardware? Just a thought.

  5. Heard of the SEC quiet period? on Red Hat Growing Pains · · Score: 1

Know anything about the regulatory requirements for filing an IPO? Know what an S-1 is?

Then, please, don't do accusing Red Hat of censorship.
