You get pressured to get good grades in school just to survive. This is global competition, capitalism is survival of the educated and death to all who arent. You have to be smarter than your rivals, you have to work harder, study more, and have more degrees just to survive.
Without a degree you cant even get a job in this economy, its only going to get worse with outsourcing.

I suggest you try going to college and living poor for a while, in this enviornment its difficult to find work, and education is time consuming.

Most time is spent working. You get the weekends to do stuff like that, and that stuff isnt really all that fun.

Sure theres things to do on the weekend, but we are talking about the majority of a persons time, most people live very repetitive lives, go to work for 8 hours each day for 5 days straight, maybe go out saturday, and sleep sunday while you recover from your hangover.
Yes I agree life does have its fun moments, but admit to the fact most Americans spend their life working not playing. 8 hours of work so you may have maybe 4-5 hours of play on saturday night.
