It the USA employers can ask for a urine test, a blood test or a hair test. This is mainly to find traces of illicit drugs but I guess they can try to find anything else they want if they need to. In most parts of Europe such pre-employment testing is prohibited and you'll probably never find a company that asks for drug tests.
It seems to me that the real issue here is not the DNA-testing itself but any kind of testing. It simply is a violation of your privacy and the US legislature should prohibit any kind of pre-employment testing just like in Europe.
Now if DNA-testing doesn't become illegal soon we may end-up in a situation where only 100% healthy people are allowed to work while all 'potentially sick' citizens are unemployed which is totally ridiculous...
"A country that's divided
surely will not stand"
As long as Linux is divided between all its different versions and variations software companies will be reluctant to develop and distribute Linux programs because there's too many version of Linux. Add to this the support problem and it just makes matters worse. Once Linux is one OS, once developpers and distributors unite to create one strong and stable version of Linux then things will be different. That's the way I see it. One standard, one OS, no division. Of course people are free to create separate customized versions and distribute them but they will have to adapt themselves to the programs released for Linux, not the contrary.
Being myself European Bush incarnates what what most Europeans don't like about the US. As much as I don't like Gore, Bush is just an unacceptable candidate for these reasons:
-He's for the death penalty (legal murder!)
-He's pro-guns
-He's a religious freak
-He's against abortion
-He's a complete idiot
It seems to me the choice is very simple..
