  2. Police enforcing people's "non-will"? on UK Police Cracking Down on Broadband Theft · · Score: 1

Uhm, shouldn't the guy using someone else's network connection first do something bad with (i.e. not just read his email or access Google maps to know where he is) *or* the owner of the connection call the police to stop the abuse? Is the police in the UK wandering around and randomly arresting people with laptops on the streets? What if the wireless connection is part of some community open WLAN project that the police does not know about?

How the world would change if humans lived forever? Easy: The human race would disappear. The limited lifetime of all species on earth is not something that nature introduced just for fun. It ensures that evolution can take place, which is crucial for species to adapt to a changing environment.

There are already several ISPs in Switzerland which do also block websites, either by altering DNS entries, blocking IP numbers at the router level or blocking transparent proxies.

Unfortunately there is not much information in english, but the case has been mentioned in a GILC newsletter (GILC Alert 52, point [7]). The Swiss Internet User Group (SIUG) has some informations, but everything is in german.

  6. Re:Wow...20 million on China's Internet Boom · · Score: 1

Exactly, quality is more important than quantity. Unfortunately, the only thing I see from the chinese part of the internet as of now is spam. I get around a dozen spams per day which I can't even read.

It seems some education regarding the netiquette is definitely required over there.
