A few years ago, I got completely sick of my WIN95 box crashing every other hour or so when running photoshop...something which tends to bugs a graphics artist like myself...
So I figured, "what the hell" and downloaded a Redhat distribution and set about installing it...
what a nightmare.
I couldn't get my sound running, couldn't get my wheel mouse wheelin' and let's not even start about the PCI card I had to replace my deceased COM port (to this day I don't know what fried my onboard com-port)
Needless to say, I kind of enjoyed the challenge and rooting through a ton of MAN pages trying to figure things out etc. but in the end, linux went bye-bye again...I never stopped watching the scene though...
And now, with such wonderful releases as Mandrake I'm getting ready for another go, also Gimp is starting to look like something I can use for my art as well...
maybe in 2001 I'll be logging in here from my linux box...
now if only we had a good standard supporting browser that is more than 3rd generation and not bloated to the point of exploding...any plans of IE5.5 for *nix ? it's the ONLY way to browse digital artists' pages these days...
