1) Legality: I happened to have a copy of NT left over, but there are those who would argue that ownership of software is immoral in any case.
2) Resources: the only real hogging that VMWare does is memory, and most of that is the memory given to the guest OS; it's a simple tunable trade-off. It only hogs CPU when it's actually doing something.
3) Second box: I can't afford to do that. What I *will* do is add another 128M to my existing box and give NT 96M insted of 64.
I have yet to try WINE, so I will not comment, except to say that I think it's a wonderful project and exactly the kind of thing that shows that there is no great mystery to Windows.
Look, Navigator is bloated on every platform, not just Linux. What an advertisment for cross-platform-icity: "Navigator! Bloated on over forty platforms!"
It's worth noting that doscussions of far greater vehemence and viciousness go on behind closed doors all over the world each day, every day. The only difference here is that it's all out in the open, so we get all viewpoints, not just a polished, lowst-common denominator marketing spiel.
Here in Ireland, nearly everyone in the "computer trade" wears suits. Most of them use NT. In my job, I have to wear a suit, going as I do on sales calls with the salemen (who are pretty clueful themselves; I'm the back-up!).
I never wear a suit to a normal day at work, and I feel terribly relieved when I'm back in my combats & CATs. Nevertheless, if you get a nice loose suit & a shirt with a too-big neck size, you'll be okay. For a few hours at least.

Best of luck.
Paul.

Personally, I like it.
