Transmeta isn't Linux. Because Linus works for Transmeta it does not necessarily mean they are a Linux only company. Microsoft wants to use the Transmeta processor because it's the best solution (at the moment) for their product specification.
pkg_version -v ouputs something like this (and a whole lot more of this):
screen-3.9.8_3 needs updating (index has 3.9.8_5)
sox-12.16 needs updating (index has 12.17.1)
tcl-8.3.1 * multiple versions (index has 8.0.5,8.2.3,8.3.1)
tiff-3.5.5 = up-to-date with index
As you can see this says enough about versions, and it also tells you what needs an update, and what doesn't...
If you cvsup to FreeBSD 4.2 STABLE you will get OpenSSH 2.3:) Ok, I know it's not a small step to cvsup from 3.x to 4.x, but it could be worth it in many different areas.
Many companies make money by giving support for their open-source products. This is the most preferable way of making money with open-source software I think. No more stupid advertisements bar(s) everyone hates...
No that's not entirely true. Ipfilter is more advanced then Ipfw, but it is true that FreeBSD's standard firewall is ipfw.
This is something I think many people have been waiting for:
pkg_update(1), a utility to update installed packages and update their dependencies, has been added.
:)
