If they wait three months, won't everyone be able to pick up a PS2 at Walmart for the regular price tag, rather than shelling out $15,000+ on eBay?
I haven't seen someone shell out $15,000 for a PS2 yet. The most I've seen on eBay is $650ish for a PS2. That's only 250$ USD over the regular Playstation 2 price.
If someone actually paid that much for a PS2, it's unbelieveable how much money some people have to waste.
Actually I would get a Dreamcast if PS2 was impossible to get anytime in the near future.. but I have read that Sega's DC is going down the drain since publishers have dropped Sega and are working with Sony and Nintendo now. Anyone heard?
Not trying to be a troll or anything, but there have been a lot of Nano technology stories posted on Slashdot. Shouldn't their be a specific Nanotech topic for posting, instead of them always falling under Science..
Technically everything on Slashdot related to technology can fall under Science:)
Hotmail is better than Yahoo..
However they did lose a little power when they switched from FreeBSD to Win2000, but now they're running fine on Win2000.
Yahoo runs FreeBSD, and their SMTP servers are almost always down. I used to use them, but I got tired of the inability to send e-mails without going through web-mail. So I switched to Hotmail, which runs Win2000 and is better than ever:)
Of course Yahoo and Hotmail both have their advantages and disadvantages..
Yahoo's free mail redirection is pretty useful for those of us who switch main e-mail accts. often.
No, it does not run the memory usage daemon and bloated Perl code which makes Slashcode. This site is the new PHPNuke, better looking, lighter, cleaner layout, cleaner display. I'm no coder or worker for phpnuke, but it sure does kill slashcode.
A community in a state of shock because some characters have been hacked! Oh my God! That's worse than the president being assassinated.
Nerds, seriously, get a life, there's more important things then that crap.
Gamespy.com is sufferring /. effect, most likely.. I can't access it.
:)
Can Anyone who's at the page and has some time setup a mirror?

Will there be a CVS tree which we can all contribute developments to? ;)

Anyone noticed that the story submitter is also the owner of the site (dshield.org).. also didn't bother to make an account.

At least the live FOX News Coverage didn't interrupt The Simpsons. Then I would of been pissed.

If this article happens to be of interest to /. readers, shouldn't their server withstand the Slashdot effect?
It'll be a joke if their servers die to the slashdot effect, since it's most likely powered by their own PPC cluster (on wheels!)
..Unless it's a bandwidth problem.
--------------------
Yeah, it'd be cool to rip mp3's that fast over a cluster. But who has got $15,000 to spare on Mp3 ripping?
:)
I would just buy all the CD's in a whole music store, kinda more sensible, right?

These days, isn't anything with a processor and RAM hackable? ;)
